Nights of Lights
The Annual Holiday Celebration in St Augsutine FL
First Saturday following Thanksgiving thru January 31
Each year, thousands and thousands of St Augustine visitors delight in the Nights of Lights Celebration. The event made its way on to National Geographic’s list of the best holiday lighting displays in the world.
The inspiration for what has become the favorite holiday activity of the aforementioned thousands and thousands of St Augustine enthusiasts was the Spanish tradition of displaying a white candle in the window during the Christmas holidays.
In the weeks preceding this holiday event, you’ll notice City trucks parked around the plaza and guys in the trees, hanging the lights that will illuminate the plaza, warm the hearts, and facilitate those fabulous memories for everyone who passes the Plaza, whether it be by on four wheels, two, or on foot.
Things to do include the evening Holly Jolly Trolley tour, candlelight tours at Villa Zorayda, the Holiday B&B Tour, The Garden Club Tour of Homes, St Augustine Ballet’s annual performance of The Nutcracker, dinner theatre at Raintree Restaurant, a view of the lights from the bay by Jax Water Tours, the Surf Illumination, the Christmas parade, Sounds of the Season by St Augustine Orchestra, breakfast with Santa at Flagler College, Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra Holiday Pops, and much more.
